Hello, remember me? It's been a while, almost exactly 6 months to be correct. Where have I been you may ask? Living my life really and doing something that I've wanted to do for so long, but more about that later (not trying to make you curious at all here).
The past 6 months have been filled with working, vacation, more working and oh yeah, I also turned 40 (which was more of a big deal for the people around me than for me really). I've always had the blog in the back of my mind but never found the energy to (re)start writing and before I knew it 6 months had passed. The longer it took, the harder it was to get back to it but the last few weeks I'd been putting aside beauty stuff because 'I need to photograph that for the blog before I open it' so that's when I realized that I really had to start again. So today is the day, I am back ... I'm not quite sure how much posting I'll be doing, that's something time will tell but I'm going for at least one post a week (hopefully two).
Trust me when I say that the last 6 months may have been without a blog but certainly not without makeup! I have bought a ton of stuff but my spending has been a bit different than before because I started a makeup course in september. We have lessons every monday for a whole year so it's not just a short term course (which I already did in the past, you can read about that here) but a full year of playing with makeup. The first part was focused on face painting (totally out of my comfort zone) but starting december we're doing beauty makeup. So I most certainly have been focused on makeup but from a different angle and as a result my spending habits have changed a bit. I'm not that focused on limited editions anymore, I'm concentrating more on getting a makeup kit together that I can use when doing someone else's makeup. Which means buying colors I wouldn't necessarily buy for myself, exploring other brands and finding a good mix of expensive and less expensive makeup to start building a makeup kit. That doesn't mean that I'm planning to make this a career, I honestly don't know how far this is going to take me and I don't want to put any pressure on myself. But the truth is that I'm really loving doing makeup on people!! I still have a lot to learn but practice makes perfect right? If you want to see some of the looks I already did and will do in the future you can always follow me on instagram (username an_ronsmans and it's a public profile - no trolling or rude behaviour or you'll be blocked though, I'm all about the love, live and let live).
The one thing that the past months has pointed out to me again is that I have THE BEST FRIENDS a girl could wish for!!! All my friends have been so supportive, they could've acted like my makeup class was a midlife crisis thing but they honestly have more of a 'finally, what took you so long' attitude and they truly deserve a special mention. I never have to look hard for a model (special mention to my die hard model Jolien who lets me paint the strangest looks on her) and it doesn't matter if it's for class or to practice on later. My bestie is always there to kick my ass when I'm having a confidence crisis and my always-without-makeup friend came to model. And even though it's been hectic, working fulltime, taking a class, practicing what I learned ... it's been a hell of ride so far!
All these words to say that I've decided to get some life in my blog again. Most post will be about beauty products of course but with the occasional 'personal' post. I'm also focussing a bit more on the pictures that I take for the blog (in case you're wondering I do all the photographing myself) any tips and tricks for that are more than welcome! I still have a lot of plans when it comes to the blog but all of that will have to wait until I have a bit more time. And if there's something you want to see on the blog or ask about, feel free to leave a comment.
For now I'm not saying bye bye but see you soon!
